Gal Gadot Rolling Stone Photo Shoot

Rolling Stone shot at Goya Studios for the magazine’s September cover story featuring Gal Gadot. During the shoot, Peggy Sirota captured a series of empowering photos of the Wonder Woman actress in Goya’s Stage A.

In the story, Gal Gadot discussed her role as Wonder Woman, motherhood, feminism and growing up in Israel.

“In general, I was a good girl, a good student, a pleaser, and I was a tomboy. Always with wounds and scratches on my knees,” she said.

After declining offers to model, Gadot appeared in the Miss Israel competition at 18 when her mother applied on her behalf. Then, she was assigned to serve as a combat trainer in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). She met husband Yaron Versano during this time and attended law school. While she was in school, a series of auditions led her to a role in Fast and Furious and eventually Wonder Woman, which Gadot suggests “stands for love and hope and acceptance and fighting evil.”

Gadot recognized her role in Wonder Women as an important opportunity, “both as an actor and as a feminist.”

“Life isn’t always rosy and peachy for me as a woman in the world,” she said. “The default should be that women get the job done, but there’s a long way to go and a lot of reprogramming that needs to be done to both genders.”
