Spike TV’s Lip Sync Battle Michael Jackson Tribute Rehearsals

Spike TV recently rehearsed “Lip Sync Battle,” a tribute to Michael Jackson at Goya Studios. The one hour live special will premier on January 18. During the rehearsals, Spike TV utilized both Stage A and Stage B and also shot interviews with the talent.

“The King of Pop is the most groundbreaking, theatrical superstar of all time and we are thrilled to be performing and celebrating the electrifying music of Michael Jackson on our big night,” Casey Patterson, executive producer, told Variety. “We are taking Lip Sync Battle to new heights, LIVE at The Dolby Theater for the launch of The Paramount Network.”

“Lip Sync Battle” is hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen and features celebrity contestants Taraji P. Henson, Hailee Steinfeld, and Neil Patrick Harris. The special is directed by Glen Weiss, who has won multiple Emmys and has been nominated for the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television Film/Miniseries.

“When it comes down to it, I’m just looking to have a good time. We’re honoring Michael Jackson and I know that nobody will ever – no matter how good they are and no matter how hard they try – be better than Michael Jackson. So as long as I go out there and have a good time, that’s all I’m trying to do,” Steinfeld said.

According to Patterson, all of the contestants share Steinfeld’s enthusiasm and excitement.

“Michael Jackson’s groundbreaking sound and style changed the course of music, videos and Live performance forevermore,” Patterson said. “This line up of incredible superstar performers are inspired and ready to bring it LIVE on 1.18.18!”
